Money Saving Tips
Traveling on a budget can be challenging, but with some good planning, it’s entirely possible. My favorite travel hack is using credit card points to pay for flights. I have taken numerous trips that were covered with points. There are many cards that can help you achieve this but two of my favorites are AMEX Platinum card and Chase Sapphire Reserve. Some credit cards also offer perks like travel insurance, lounge access, or statement credits, further giving you value of your rewards. Make sure to manage your credit responsibly, paying off balances in full each month to avoid interest charges.
Another tip is researching and booking flights and accommodations well in advance to take advantage of early discounts. Opting for budget airlines or alternative lodging options like hostels or vacation rentals can cut down costs. Additionally, consider traveling during the off-peak season when prices tend to be lower. Shoulder season is my favorite time to travel. Packing light to avoid baggage fees and cooking some of your meals instead of dining out can further stretch your budget. Lastly, take advantage of free attractions to maximize savings without compromising on experiences. A nice day soaking up the sun on a beach or going out for a hike are great ways to spend your day.

Pack Smart with a Packing List
When it comes to packing for a tropical vacation, it’s important to pack smart and bring along the essentials. There is nothing worse than being overpacked, but still missing important items you may need. Here’s a packing list to help you get started:
- Lightweight and breathable clothing. Think sundress, linen shorts, swim coverups.
- Sunscreen and preferable reef safe. Some places require it.
- Hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.
- Natural insect repellent to combat bugs.
- A couple swimsuits if you plan on being in the water a bunch.
- Comfortable footwear for walking and exploring + sandals of course.
- A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Travel-sized toiletries and any medications you may need.
- Any required travel documents.
